Scrutiny Intensifies Over Haveri Voter-List Revision

The large-scale electoral-roll revision in Haveri district has become an important local issue, with officials carrying out detailed verification of voter records across the district’s six Assembly constituencies. The exercise has identified 1,08,641 names for possible deletion from the voter list, mainly involving people who have permanently migrated, deceased voters and duplicate registrations.

The proposed deletions have drawn attention to the need for careful verification so that eligible voters are not mistakenly removed. Officials have been checking information collected through door-to-door visits and digitising voter records as part of the revision process. Political representatives and Booth Level Agents are also involved in examining the records and raising concerns where necessary.

According to the latest reported figures, 55,694 names were proposed for deletion because of permanent migration, 31,805 because the voters were deceased, and 16,636 because of duplicate registrations. Another 4,107 cases involved voters who could not be traced or whose information could not be collected during verification.
